I Feel So Green and Virtuous

May 13, 2008 by pennythoughts

I just got back from walking our pants and shirts to the dry cleaner.  It felt good!  Although it’s not a green dry cleaner (we don’t have any around here), I saved the environment a tiny bit of CO2 and our household budget a little $$.  Even better, it got my buns moving.  I took along my heart rate monitor and made it a full-blown workout with intervals.

I’d like to do more of this in the future.  Next, I’m taking in my bicycle for a tune-up so I can ride it to the grocery store when I only need small items.  I often have to make a mid-week veggie run, and this would be a perfect opportunity to save some gas.  (We go through vegetables so quickly around here that I can’t fit enough in the fridge on Saturdays.)

How are you trying to save gas these days?

*Driving only one car (that gets about 35mpg)
*cutting out 700-mile bimonthly trips by moving closer to family
*choosing a home less than 3 miles from Hubs’ work
*grouping errands on just one or two days and on an efficient route instead of retracing steps back and forth across town multiple times a week
*buying local as much as possible to shorten “food miles”

  • Welcome!

Thanks for visiting Wholesome Goodness. While I loved working on this blog for a time, I find myself in a different season now and am enjoying other pursuits. Feel free to poke around my old posts for tidbits on natural health and whole foods, as well as gluten-free recipes (many are also dairy-free, and almost all are suitable for hypoglycemics and diabetics).
